ABOUT

I’ve always felt that a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet. If all you want is a quick summary, read on below…in the third person…because that’s just how it’s done. But, it would be way more fun if you hopped over to my contact page and started a conversation via your preferred communication method (I don’t know smoke signals, but just about anything else works). Well met, friend, and happy reading!

Lydia Sherrer is an award-winning and USA Today-bestselling author who hopes to leave this world a better place than when she found it. She grew up in rural Kentucky and was thoroughly corrupted by a deep love for its rolling countryside, in spite of all the mosquitoes and hay-fever. Lydia’s parents instilled in her a craving for literature early on, and later regretted it as they had to wrestle books away from her at the dinner table and confiscate all her flashlights she used to read books under the covers. Despite their best efforts, they never managed to break her of the habit and Lydia is still reading under the covers today, though now she has the convenience of a Kindle with night settings.

Lydia graduated with a dual B.A. in Chinese and Arabic, and after traveling to the far corners of the globe, came home and stayed. Instead of becoming a marine biologist or a spy for the CIA (her childhood dreams), she decided to do something much more exciting and dangerous: write books for a living.

Her award-winning and bestselling “Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus – the Lily Singer Adventures”  series is delightfully snarky urban fantasy with a talking cat that has been described by Harry Potter fans as “Highly addictive!” and “a must read.” It has garnered thousands of five star ratings and sold over a quarter million copies.

Most recently Lydia is working on a trilogy of gamelit novels with NYT bestselling author John Ringo. The first “Into the Real” released in March 2022. More will follow in 2023. Her short stories have appeared in numerous anthologies such as “We Shall Rise” and “Chicks in Tank Tops” (published by Baen Books) and she writes a new one every month for her subscribers over at Patreon.

When not writing or promoting her next book, Lydia enjoys playing the ocarina (think Zelda), LARPing, cosplaying, and collecting insects. She subsists on tea and dark chocolate, and hates sleep because it keeps her from writing. Due to the tireless efforts of her fire-spinning gamer husband and her two overlords, er cats, she remains sane and even occasionally remembers to leave the house.

People interviewed her.  She was surprised, but happy for an excuse to talk.
